# Google review link not working

Customers tap your review link or scan the QR code and nothing useful happens. Usually the link came from the wrong place, or the QR code was made on a phone.

## Quick answer

Most broken review links were copied from somewhere other than the profile's own Get more reviews panel. The other common cause is a QR code made on a phone: Google says review QR codes can only be generated on a computer browser.

## Check this first

- [ ] Open the link yourself in a private window, signed out, on a phone.
- [ ] Search your business name signed out and check the profile is still live and public.
- [ ] Check where the link came from: a printed card, an email template, or the profile itself.

## Causes

### The QR code was generated on a phone

- Status: Fixable - You can sort this yourself.
- Google says that currently, reviews QR codes can only be generated on a computer browser, not on mobile devices.
- Fix: Generate the QR code again on a computer, then reprint anything carrying the old one.

### The link was copied from somewhere other than your profile

- Status: Fixable - You can sort this yourself.
- Google's own route is: go to your Business Profile, select Read reviews and then Get more reviews, and select Copy to copy the review link.
- Fix: Take the link from that panel and replace it everywhere you have published it.

### The profile is suspended or disabled

- Status: Platform’s call - Only the platform can change it. Report or appeal.
- Google says that while a profile is suspended the public cannot go to it, and the owner and managers cannot act on it.
- Fix: Appeal through the Business Profile appeals tool. Until it is reinstated no review link will work, because there is no public profile to land on.

### Reviews are not available for your category or country

- Status: Platform’s call - Only the platform can change it. Report or appeal.
- Google says reviews are available only in certain countries or regions and for certain business categories.
- Fix: Check your category. If reviews are not offered for it, no link will produce a review form.

## How to get the link Google actually expects you to use

1. Go to your Business Profile
2. Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews
3. To copy the review link, select Copy
4. To save the QR code, right-click it and select Save image as

Google says offering incentives, such as free or discounted goods or services, to customers in exchange for reviews is considered fake engagement and is strictly prohibited. That includes posting reviews, changing reviews and removing negative ones.

Checked 2026-10-02.

A customer taps your review link, or scans the code, and nothing useful happens: an error, or a page that goes nowhere.

The most likely cause is where the link came from. Most broken review links were copied from somewhere other than the profile's own Get more reviews panel, which is an easy thing to get wrong. The other common one is a QR code made on a phone — Google says review QR codes can only be generated on a computer browser, so a phone-made code was never going to work.

Both of those you can fix yourself, today. The checklist below covers them, and the causes after it are sorted by who can act: you, or Google.

## Questions people ask

### Where do I find my Google review link?

On your Business Profile, select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, then Copy.

### Can I offer a discount to customers who use the link?

No. Google says offering incentives in exchange for reviews is considered fake engagement and is strictly prohibited.

### The link works for me but not for customers. Why?

Try it signed out, in a private window. Signed in as the owner you may be seeing a page a customer never reaches.
